There are no medical treatments for arteriogenic erectile dysfunction. The study aims to understand the safety and success of using endovascular revascularization with BTK stent for treating the disorder.

The study covers 100 individuals with atherosclerotic lesions in the erection arteries. The individuals consented to endovascular therapy using BTK stent on 211 lesions, in total. The patients’ responses got collected via a questionnaire during the presentation, three months after stenting, and one year after stenting. From the analysis point of view, a four-point improvement in the questionnaire determines a significant difference.

No effects or adverse conditions were found during the process or within one month from the process. The surgery was a success in all the individuals in the study. At the one-year endpoint, 55 patients out of 97 individuals showed 4 –point improvement in the score. Thus, the study proved the therapy to be clinically effective in improving erectile function. In 8 and 46 of 52 patients, binary restenosis and arterial patency were identified, respectively, after 9.6 +/- 5.8 months.

The study presents endovascular therapy using thin-strut sirolimus stent as a feasible and safe process. The study also recommends future research into subgroups of individuals to determine the benefits of the therapy.
