A study has found that about one in 10 sexually active adolescents presenting to the ED appear to report a prior sexually transmitted infection (STI) diagnosis, according to a study. Several factors increased the odds of patients offering a self-reported STI history, including female gender; older age; non-Caucasian race; not being enrolled in school; a medically related ED chief complaint; and inconsistent condom use.
