Fat embolism syndrome (FES) following liposuction is extremely uncommon. Only 18 cases of liposuction-induced FES have been recorded to date, including this one. Due to a lack of sensitive and precise laboratory testing and clinical signs, FES is underdiagnosed. The study describes the case of a 52-year-old lady who acquired FES as a result of axillary, pectoral, and back liposuction.
The radiologic findings in this case are typical of a patient with liposuction-induced FES. With the increasing number of liposuction operations, it is critical for physicians to understand that liposuction is not a risk-free surgery.
