Cardio-renal-metabolic (CRM) multimorbidity is common and tied to worse outcomes in patients with HF and LVEF of 40% or higher, according to results published in JACC: Heart Failure. Muthiah Vaduganathan, MD, MPH, and colleagues found that, among 6,263 patients with HFpEF, 1,952 (31%) had one additional CRM condition, 2,245 (36%) had two additional CRM conditions, and 1,236 (20%) had three additional CRM conditions; HF alone was infrequent (13%). Greater CRM multimorbidity was associated with older age, higher BMI, longerduration HF, worse health status, and lower LVEF.
