Mobile health technology was positively evaluated by patients with MS and found to be feasible, according to a study published in Sclerosis. Annibale Antonioni, MD, and colleagues sought to synthesize “evidence about smartphone applications for the assessment and management of fatigue in MS, as well as to investigate their usability, feasibility, and reliability,” they wrote in their paper. Across 16 papers, digital health technology was assessed among patients with all clinical subtypes of MS and disease durations up to 20 years or more. Despite using varied methods, all studies demonstrated a high level of usability based on participant feedback and task completion. Additionally, feasibility assessments showed positive outcomes, with apps effectively distinguishing between fatigued and non-fatigued patients. Notably, most apps exhibited strong reliability, and some patients reported decreased fatigue with mobile health technology use.
