Abortion services should provide high-quality contraceptive care. The researchers conducted this research to determine health professionals working in SRH regarding their attitudes towards providing more abortion services and staff opinions within one community SRH center in Scotland where a service providing EMA was due to commence.

An anonymous questionnaire distributed to attendees at SRH scientific meeting collected data on demographics, the current practice of and attitude to abortion, and views on the delivery of abortion services.

The participants completed one hundred sixty-five questionnaires out of 200 distributed at the scientific meeting. One hundred twenty-eight respondents felt that abortion services were suited to community clinics, and 115 stated that they would be willing to participate in them. 62/90 staff from the SRH clinic responded to the internet questionnaire. Forty-four felt the plan to introduce abortion services was a natural extension to services already offered, and the same number would be willing to be involved in such a service.

The study concluded that there is clear support amongst health professionals in community SRH in the UK towards greater participation in abortion care services.
