Investigators in Pittsburgh and Baltimore have found that surgery appears to be associated with high patient satisfaction and improved quality of life (QOL) in patients who underwent surgery for benign liver lesions. Rates of moderate-to-extreme pain decreased from 46.9% preoperatively to 15.6% at 6 months and 6.8% at 1 year. Overall improvement in general health was reported by 40.5% of patients, and 39.3% reported overall improvement in physical health.
