A National Cancer Institute study has found that approximately 13.7 million cancer survivors were living in the United States as of 2012, a figure which is expected to approach 18 million by 2022. About two-thirds of cancer survivors have survived 5 or more years while 40% have survived 10 or more. Another 15% have survived 20 years or longer after a cancer diagnosis.
