Hybrid coronary revascularization (HCR)—which combines minimally invasive left internal mammary artery to left anterior descending bypass with PCI of non-left anterior descending vessels—appears to have a quicker recovery and similar outcomes when compared with conventional CABG. A study found that mortality rates at 3 years were similar for both approaches. However, HCR was associated with lower in-hospital morbidity, a reduced need for blood transfusion use, and decreased needs for chest tube drainage. It was also associated with shorter postoperative lengths of stay.
