Double-balloon enteroscopy (DBE) successfully diagnosed Crohn’s disease (CD) affecting the jejunum and ileum, emphasizing the value of this technique when conventional methods fail.
Crohn’s disease (CD) affecting the jejunum and ileum is uncommon, posing diagnostic challenges. A 35-year-old male, experiencing intermittent periumbilical pain, diarrhea, and fever for five years, underwent various examinations with no significant findings. A double-balloon enteroscopy (DBE) at Shenzhen Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine revealed multiple ulcers, confirming CD. Successful treatment with infliximab demonstrated the value of DBE in diagnosing CD when conventional techniques prove unsuccessful, emphasizing the importance of considering small bowel disease in CD symptoms.
