Clamping the vascular pedicle before removing the tumour is an important step in reducing blood loss and preserving good visibility during a partial nephrectomy. For minimally invasive surgery, many vascular clamping devices have been created. However, no publications compare them in terms of efficiency. Researchers offer an ex vivo experimental model that is intended to show the differences between clamping devices.
At 90 and 120 mmHg, all clamps demonstrated normal operation with no leakage. The findings and the ex vivo model demonstrate that all available clamps perform equally well at physiological pressures.
