Participants experienced risk reductions of 40% for myocardial infarction (MI), 42% for stroke, 18% for 5-year cardiovascular disease-related mortality, and 45% for moderate-to-severe kidney disease.
Take Home Pearl: Patients with diabetes who undergo gastric bypass appear to experience a significant reduction in their risk of stroke and MI, among several other health benefits.
