Among patients who have undergone drug-eluting stent implantation, a follow-up care plan consisting of follow-up phone calls at 7 days and 1, 6, and 9 months after the procedure appears to improve drug adherence to near-perfect scores when compared with standard care. The study group noted that 87.2% of patients in the intervention group were persistent with using clopidogrel at 1 year, compared with a 43.1% rate seen in the control group.
