Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for hepatocellular carcinoma appears to be locally curative and result in survival as long as 10 years, according to Japanese research. Of all RFA treatments performed, complete tumor ablation was achieved in 99.4% of cases. Survival rates were 60.2% at 5 years and 27.3% at 10 years.
