Abnormal performance on the Romberg test was independently associated with a longer duration of symptoms during recovery among child and adolescent study participants who were evaluated within 10 days of receiving a concussion. While univariate Cox proportional hazards models indicated that headache severity and frequency, confusion, forgetfulness, attention difficulties, trouble remembering, getting tired often and easily, and dizziness were also associated with longer duration of symptoms, only abnormal performance on the Romberg test kept this association upon using a multivariate Cox proportional hazards model.
