The epidemic of COVID-19 posed unprecedented problems for urology resident education. The impact of the pandemic on urology trainees and their education is discussed in this paper. Urology residents were frequently reassigned to front-line services in new clinical environments. Residents frequently reported elevated levels of stress, anxiety, and despair. To build cohesion, several programmes used virtual “check-ins” and created liaisons with mental health providers. Telehealth was included into the clinical environment for urology trainees. To supplement surgical education, virtual surgery lectures and simulations were used. Throughout the epidemic, academic governing bodies supported resident safeguards and offered dynamic direction for training requirements. Because medical students were unable to engage in typical in-person away rotations and interviews, the residency application process became more complicated.

The COVID-19 epidemic rocked the healthcare system and brought about seismic changes for urology trainees all around the world. Though the long-term repercussions of the epidemic are unknown, urology residents have shown incredible perseverance and courage throughout this trying time, and those characteristics will undoubtedly endure the test of time.
